Butterfly Chase – Hand-Painted Pastoral Landscape Oil Painting

Butterfly Chase is arranged as a bright portrait landscape with a broad meadow rising towards a canopy of mature green trees. Four small child figures move diagonally through the grass, each carrying a butterfly net, while tiny butterflies and meadow flowers punctuate the open slope. A white dog runs in the foreground. The figures remain deliberately small in relation to the landscape, so the first impression is the sweep of the hillside, the shade of the trees and the upward movement of the group rather than a close character portrait.

The colour palette is built around fresh yellow-green grass, deeper forest greens, a light blue sky and small accents of yellow, pink, orange and blue. Dark trunks and branches give the upper section definition, while the lighter meadow keeps the lower half open. Round coloured forms suspended among the branches add a playful visual rhythm without changing the central countryside character. From across a room, the large areas of green and the strong tree silhouette read clearly. Closer viewing reveals the scattered flowers, butterflies, nets, figures and small changes in the painted surface.

The composition uses a diagonal line of movement from the lower-left foreground towards the upper-right hillside. This prevents the portrait format from feeling static and leads the eye through the different distances in the scene. The large tree anchors the left side, with open sky and the rising slope providing balance on the right. Brushwork and painted marks describe foliage, grass and small natural forms without suggesting pronounced surface relief. The finish should be understood as a painted surface, with normal hand-applied variation visible at close range.

Seven portrait sizes are available from 50 × 70 cm to 120 × 170 cm. Smaller sizes can create a focused accent in an entryway, study or compact living area. Larger formats give the meadow and tree canopy greater wall presence and are easier to read from across a room. Before choosing, mark the proposed outside dimensions on the wall with low-tack tape and view the outline from the room’s usual entrance and seating positions. Each piece is painted by hand, so minor differences in line, colour density, flower placement and brush edges are expected while the principal composition remains recognisable.
