Gentle Tide – Hand-Painted Textured Modern Landscape Oil Painting

Gentle Tide presents a coastal landscape in a tall portrait format. Deep blue-grey water enters from the upper left and moves diagonally through bands of pale blue, ivory and warm sand. The shoreline occupies the lighter side of the composition, while foaming edges create an irregular boundary between water and land. That diagonal movement keeps the image active without making the overall palette feel busy.

The painted surface is an important part of the work. Raised ridges follow the breaking water and continue into quieter, combed marks across the pale shoreline. Darker passages use shorter, denser strokes; lighter areas open into broader bands and fine linear texture. From across a room, these details combine into a clear sweep of water and shore. At closer range, the changes in height, direction and paint edge become much more visible.

Its restrained blue, off-white and sand palette suits interiors built around warm neutrals, charcoal accents, natural wood or cool grey surfaces. The portrait shape can sit above a narrow console, beside a doorway, between windows or on a wall where a wide landscape would feel crowded. In a living room or dining space, the strong diagonal can provide movement against simple furniture. In an entryway or commercial interior, the light shoreline keeps the large format from reading as a solid dark block.

Six portrait sizes are available, beginning at 60 × 80 cm and extending to 110 × 170 cm. Before choosing, measure the usable wall rather than the full room. Mark the proposed width and height with removable tape, then look from the normal entrance and seating position. A smaller size preserves more surrounding wall; a larger size makes the texture and diagonal shoreline a stronger part of the room. Also allow clearance above consoles, benches and other furniture.

Each piece is painted by hand on oil canvas. Small differences in individual ridges, edges and colour transitions are expected, because the result is not a mechanically identical print. Those differences should remain within the recognised composition: the dark water, pale surf line and warm shoreline retain the same overall arrangement. Lighting also changes how the raised areas read, so side light may reveal more surface relief than flat frontal light.
